Default New Rating Algorithm means better deals!

I updated the rating algorithm to be quite a bit smarter in how to calculate the ratings. I think you'll notice a difference in the quality of the deals with the higher rating. It's quite a bit more complicated than the old used to be, so I'm sure there are some bugs yet.

Please let me know if you see any items that have a suspiciously high or low ranking.

Thanks!

It looks like something screwy is going on.

score 82 on a 17% price drop
score 81 on a 101% price INCREASE

Ratings aren't calculated solely on the price/percent change anymore. Other things such as the price history and prices of related items are included.

If you look at the price increase that you linked, even though the price doubled, it is still way below the other prices in the history. The thinking is that just because it went up some in price, doesn't mean that it's no longer a good deal, if the price is still way below similar items and the historical pricing.

Clear as mud?
