Default OutletScanner 4.0 beta

Due to the changes to Dell Outlet this morning where image validation is now required before adding an item to the cart, OutletScanner 4.0 BETA has been created.

Since the other versions of outletscanner no longer work, I'm putting this out a while even though there are likely issues as I have not tested it as thorougly as I would like, so this is definatley BETA!

Please report any problems in this thread. Suggestions are also welcomed!

The changes are as follows:
  • Changed add to cart functionality to deal with new change
  • Changed algorithm to process up to 5 items on a page and add all to cart instead of single item

Basically the scanner works the same way as in previous versions. However, when an item is found and attempted to be added to the cart, image validation is necessary before it will be added. The scanner will alert you with a blip to let you know that a system is found and verification is needed.

there's currently some issue with the scanner playing the missed sound when it actually gets added to cart (even when successful)... looking into it.

Thanks smitts. I'll play around with it over the weekend and provide some feedback.

I cannot get the Regular expressions to work. If I don't use it, I can find some systems, but with Duo in the Regular expressions field, I get nothing, even though there are Core 2 Duo systems under the price limit. Using these parameters: Dell Home, Precision, <$3000, and Regular expression "Duo".
Also New|Refurb|Scratch/Dent all checked.

Hmm... I'll see if I can find a problem with the regular expression part. Thanks for letting me know.

A newbie question here, but how exactly can you get this to scan ALL the time? I can only seem to get it to scan between 1-2 minutes without restarting it by changing the starting time setting. Thanks

That is the way that the scanner is intended to work, as it was what Dell was willing to agree to. It will scan every hour at the start time you specify, and refresh 60 times.

Typically a good time is ~39:30 (39 minutes and 30 seconds) each hour. The drops come around :40 or so.

The -1 means it will scan every hour at the minute and seconds listed.

Actually, the hour field is what hour of the day that the scanner will start. So for instance if you set the hour to 8, the scanner would not start scanning until 8:40 (or whatever minute setting you are using).

The -1 tells the scanner to ignore this field and it will start scanning as soon as it gets to the correct minute.

Since Dell's changes to the outlet, I'm not sure the hour field is really relevant anymore, since it's pointless to scan when you aren't at your computer... :oo:

I'm thinking about adding an option that will allow the scanner to pop to the foreground as soon as systems have been added and the text needs to be entered. I was going to make it behave this way all the time, but I think I'll give it an option in case anyone doesn't want to be interrupted... Any thoughts?

I have had 4.0 Beta running for several days, I am not sure if dell outlet has dried up but the scanner hasn't seen or found anything. I got it set on the xps m1210 for under $749. So dell must of tightened up. So far no luck. I will keep trying.

I love seeing people who resell be in pain and agony! It gives normal joe-shmo's like myself a better chance to get that ONE SINGLE notebook that we desperately are seeking.

With that said, I like the outlet scanner and reccomend it to lots of people like myself who want a notebook. I suggest to everyone they dedicate atleast all afternoon and realistically all evening to scanning and changing the start times in order to find that one good deal hat makes us hapy. I scanned for about 8 hours the other week and found three pc's I was happy to choose from, but did not purchase one because dell revoked my 12month interest free i thought i had

Thanks for updating the scanner. Once dell offers another 12month inspiron interest free promo i'll be back scanning all day to get that one best notebook to make me happy

i think the other scanners are just beating you to them and holding them while you scan

I think that is a good idea. Thank you for a good product with fast updates.
