Default NOW POSSIBLE 3.3 RELEASE FOR TESTING!! OutletScanner 3.3 Beta! Dell Outlet Scanner

Here's the newest version of the Dell Outlet Scanner to help get you great deals on Dell PCs.

Improvements from the previous version:
  • All selection parameters are read from the inventory page, so model numbers, hard drive sizes, etc are now always up to date.
  • Changed refreshing of the cart to fix crash problem and the scanner doesn't pop the the foreground anymore :)
  • All fields should be remembered between each time closing and opening the scanner (future update to include multiple configurations to be saved)
  • Bug fix to fix problem where the same system was added to the cart multiple times
  • Minimum Hard drive size parameter fixed

If you haven't already installed the .net framework, you will need to download and install from here

See OutletScanner for more information on how to get the best deal on your new Dell PC!

Please let me know if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions!

Ok, I know there's a workaround for this, but it's annoying. Have you thought of a way to stop this? Can we have it fake a "quit - restart - relogin" cycle, instead of requiring us to do it manually?

Hmmm... maybe Dell's site was slow or unresponsive. I guess I'll need to add a default set of parameters for this case.

Another suggestion:

The scanner uses IE, correct? Is there a way to also have it remember our login/password so we don't have to type it in each time?

You do seem to have cleared up some of the glitches - good job - but unfortunately Dell Outlet seems to have very little to offer in Inspiron laptops these days...

Default scan time length

3.3 works great only problem I have is the same I had in 3.2 The scanner runs for 2 minutes then stop. waiting for correct time. I advance the time a few minutes ans it starts and runs for 2 minutes again....

I assume this is how it is supposed to work.

Dell usually adds new systems to inventory at 40 past the hour. So the scanner looks for new systems for a couple minutes at that time.

I had the scanner crash on me when I left it running overnight this weekend. I wish there was some debugging information that I could collect for you.

And once again, when I tried running it again, it said I was already scanning. So I had to exit the program, then restart it.

Do you have any idea where it is when it crashes? Is it actively scanning or waiting? Are you using regular expression or not?

Waiting. No regexps.

Just crashed again right now. Which is almost exactly 2 hours after I started it again. I'll start it up again and see if it crashes at around 2:07 EST. :baffled:

I guess I should clarify - I think it was waiting. But it could have crashed while scanning and I just didn't notice it until later.

Just a thought - I'm scanning for systems that have been in short supply lately. So Dell often gives the "No Systems Were Found" message. Are you sure that this is being handled correctly?

Garsh, you may be correct, there may be an issue when you are searching frequently and there isn't any inventory for your parameters. I'm not sure I ever really tested this case very much, so there could possibly be an issue.

Thanks for helping to narrow it down a bit.
