I think you need to add several "times" during which scanning will begin.

They seem to also be adding systems at about 25 after the hour. I'll need to pay better attention, but I've noticed this a couple of times now when looking manually.

Heh. I left for lunch, and when I came back just now, it was still attempting to scan, and Dell was giving me the "you're hitting our server too hard" message.

Found the problem you were experiencing today Garsh. I'm going to test it a bit. Should be a minor fix. Hopefully tomorrow morning we'll have a new release!

Default New version available!

Well, here's the newest version which fixes the crash that garsh was experiencing, and a few other minor updates...

Please give it a try and let me know if you have any problems! I think it should be working fairly well. :)

Thanks,
Smitts

First bug: I had the Min HD field set to "80", and when I started up this new version for the first time, it put "74" into that field.

I think that must have been a change on dell's options. It saves the offset into the index of values, so if the options change by one, it will be off next time you load it.

Tsk-tsk. Naughty programmer.

Their options change too often to do it by index. Especially if you're grabbing all the options across all the product types.

But this program keeps getting better with each revision. Keep up the good work!

And just to prove the point, my "processor" field just changed from "Intel Core 2 Duo - 1860" to "Celeron D - 3060". Just a wee bit of a difference there.

Agreed... I'll make the change to fix it this weekend. :)

Hi Garsh,

Noticed you are one of the active members here. What settings do you or other members recommend?? I am yet to grab system? I just needed one for myself, not for sale??

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

That's easy! Increase your "Price High" value, and you'll be sure to grab one!

Seriously though, I haven't found anything good at the outlet in about a month. You just need to keep trying regularly, and then one day you'll catch Dell when they're trying to dump a lot of inventory on the item that interests you.

Had a problem with 3.3 yesterday.

When I went to exit the application, it locked up. I had to kill it from the task manager.
This was after running for several hours straight (& not grabbing any systems).

Another problem:

When the dealscans.com website is down, I cannot scan! :baffled:

Can you put in some kind of failsafe that will give up on logging in if the website cannot be contacted and still allow us to scan?

When I try to login on the 3.3 version I get an error that says already scanning. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

If you get the already scanning message, log in. When it says already scanning, close the application, and reopen it. The next time when you log in, it will work.

Default Oh No!

Dell finally figured it out. They have now added a picture verification. The site is currently getting updated and here is the message that you now see when you click add to cart:

Why do I need to type characters from a picture before I add a product to the cart?

Typing the characters from a picture helps ensure that an individual, and not an automated program, is adding a product to their cart.

This is important because hackers use harmful programs to try to reserve large amounts of inventory, which then means inventory is unavailable to our customers. To protect the integrity of your purchase, we ask you to take this step. In most cases, an automated registration program can't recognize the characters in the picture.

I thought they would have given me some warning... :(

It doesn't add the item out of inventory until you have sucessfully completed the captcha.

Although this was a bit unexpected, I'm not sure it will be completely bad, except for the huge resellers. It should give more people a shot at the better systems. The outletscanner will still be completely useful in finding the items and getting you to the point where you need to complete the characters, you'll just need to be near the PC to type the characters when it is scanning.

I'm working on updating the scanner to deal with the new changes... I hope to have something out for everyone to test soon.

I think people are crushing the outlet with scanners gone wild.

It's incredbily slow and I keep getting "server too busy" messages :baffled:
