Default Doorbuster - Strobe Scam??

Ok, with all the time i have wasted with doorbuster, i need to get this thread started.
This is my story now. I won a WALL E on the very first day, and since i have better internet connection i won a Planet Earth DVD for my brother. I won it on 30th nov by staying up till 3 am. And since its been two weeks, i called strobe promotions.
First, the guy told me that he has no information about the PE DVD i won, but only when i told him the item number and other finer details. He said, he will look into and after 4 hours he calls and leaves me a message.
I called him again this morning and he asked me all the questions in the book, about when i bought, address and all. He hangs up to research. After three hours he again calls me to tell me that ' i cannot win more than two items'! i was using my brother's ID, his address. Then he researches more to tell me that since i was using same IP, it is invalid?? I asked him there is no mention of one item per IP in your rules. He had no clues about the rules either. Now, when i read out the exact rules and asked him about people who won in computer labs for mutiple people, on this he said he will have his supervisor talk to me today. And its been over 3 hours and no call and they all have left for the day.

Has anyone on here, been in this mess. I dont really care anymore about the item i won by following the rules, i just want them to accept their fault about first having no data about my win, then after proving them i won, they come back to deny with a rule that was not even in their fine print.

Am i correct in going after them? Or should i go after them through EBay...

I would go after ebay. Reading through the rules it doesn't say per ip address. It initially said one winner per id/household, which was later changed to id and or household. If you won for people not in the same house, I don't understand how they could not give it to you. I won 2 items for other people, I haven't received them yet either. I also haven't yet received any information about if they will be canceled or not.

I won many times and used my relatives accounts and I have recieved everything except for my Powerwheel, but that was on the last day so it will prolly be awhile. No problems here.

Eh... You have risks when you're playing with multiple accounts. According to the rules, it's one per family/household/person/whatever. I'm sure there's a 'we don't have to follow through' clause somewhere in there as well...

The promotion isn't a scam. You just got caught trying to game the rules... Same thing happened to me with one of my wins. Sure I'm not happy and maybe will b*tch after I get my remaining prizes, but I'm not expecting too much...

I'm waiting for 1 item myself. It might be because I won it on the last day. I figured if I were in the same situation as you, I'd know ahead of time by checking the paypal account. Apparently not.

caught? doing what? winning two items from the same IP? I am sure there are many people who have done that, its just that strobe got caught by not having details on my win, i also checked with ebay rep. and yes there was no restriction on using same IP....

If you are trying to minimize time spent on this, you're probably better off dropping it. My guess is that you'll get a frustrating run around for quite some time and then nothing in the end.

Of course, feel free to pursue it.

...just my two cents from someone who quit playing after winning one item.

i just wanted to post an pdate on this one..after waiting for supervisor for sometime, i called back today and unlike last time, where the kid on the phone went-back-and-forth and said 'same IP, violation, cant send..blah blah blah'...well that didnt happen this time...the lady picked up the phone, read ebay rules about items will ship between 4-6 weeks and took my ID, name, phone and item name and said they might/will call me after the item is shipped...

i dont know understand who i dealt with the first time?? Sounded like a young guy trying to be outsmart me...hopefully, strobe has cleaned up on their side and people will start receiving their items..i will be happy to see my brother get PE DVD...thanks for everyone's inputs in this regard...

Yes, I did. In fact, I tried to win the Barbie from work, but every time it came up I was away from my desk and would miss it. I was afraid if I won it from home I would not be able to win anything else because it was the same IP, but that turned out not to be a problem.
